Masters a Golf Betting Test for All

Masters a Golf Betting Test for All

Mired in the longest slump of his career, Tiger Woods nevertheless has been installed as a 13/2 future book favorite to win The Masters at the Augusta National Golf Club england boys golf news, April 7-10. Those golf betting fans who wager on Woods will do so with the same trepidation they feel standing over a four-foot putt. Woods, who has captured 14 Major championships, including four Masters, has not won a golf tournament since Nov. 15, 2009, four weeks before he revealed his own marital infidelity and began a self-imposed four-month exile from the game. Since returning at the 2010 Masters, Woods has lost 15 straight tournaments. Woods' last victory in a Major came in 2008 when he beat Rocco Mediate in a 19-hole playoff to claim the US Open. Woods, who was the world's top ranked golfer for a record 623 weeks, including eight full years, has dropped to No. 5 in the rankings, behind Germany's Martin Kaymer, England's Lee Westwood and Luke Donald, and Ireland's Graeme McDowell. A fundamental reason for Woods' decline, in addition to his personal problems, may be that Tiger currently ranks 183rd in driving accuracy and 98th in putting.Golf betting aficionados who don't relish taking a short price on Woods winning his fifth Masters have many other options. Foremost among them is Phil Mickelson, the 7/1 second choice on most future book lists. "Lefty" hasn't played particularly well recently but Mickelson is the defending Masters champion and also won the event in 2004 and 2006, which means he's won two Masters since Tiger wore his last Green Jacket in 2005 Will Tiger Woods Get Free Golf Holiday.

Lawrie and Laird restored nation's pride says Bernard Gallacher

Lawrie and Laird restored nation's pride says Bernard Gallacher

FORMER Ryder Cup captain Bernard Gallacher has heaped praise on Martin Laird and Paul Lawrie for putting some "pride" back into Scottish golf after pulling off their glorious double triumph on both sides of the Atlantic on Sunday.Laird's success in the Arnold Palmer Invitational on the PGA Tour has seen him jump 19 places to 21st in the world england boys golf news, with Lawrie leaping up to 150th after he returned to winning ways following a nine-year drought on the European Tour with victory in the Andalucia Open. The two successes came within a few hours of each other and were certainly a far cry from some of the low points witnessed in Scottish golf over the past decade, notably when only four players were flying the Saltire in the 2006 Open Championship at Royal Liverpool and none of them survived the cut.The absence of Scottish players in the last two European Ryder Cup teams has also been disappointing, but Gallacher, who captained the winning side at Oak Hill in 1995, is delighted to see the home of golf back in the news for positive events again thanks to the excellent efforts of his two compatriots"We can wear our kilts with pride again," he said. "It's not nice when you go to events like The Open or a Ryder Cup and hear people talking negatively about Scottish golf and, when there isn't a Scot in the European team at a Ryder Cup, that certainly drives it home."Laird, who has been based in America since he went to college in Colorado, looks a good bet to make the team for the 2012 match at Medinah and Gallacher believes that can also be a realistic target for 42-year-old Lawrie, who played at Brookline in 1999 Martin Laird Is First European to Win at Bay Hill Sets Sights on Augusta.

What they said: Martin Laird

What they said: Martin Laird

DOUG MILNE: We would like to welcome the winner of the 2011 Arnold Palmer Invitational Presented by MasterCard, Martin Laird. I know that's obviously got a sweet sound to it, your second career PGA TOUR win. With this win, you pick up 500 FedExCup points and are currently No. 4 in the season-long standings. Interesting day england boys golf news. A lot of back and forth. You had the lead, you lost the lead, you got the lead again but you got the job done, in pretty dramatic fashion there with that 2 putt on 18. If you can just talk a little bit about the week and the round and how you feel to be looking at this trophy right here.MARTIN LAIRD: Yeah, as you said, that sounds very nice, winning here at Bay Hill and Mr. Palmer's tournament. Obviously very, very happy. That was a hell of a day. That was a tough fight out there. You know, the golf course is playing very, very difficult. To be honest I didn't feel like I had my swing really all day. Pretty much hit it everywhere the first until about the last four holes. You know, the two clubs that have been good for me all week, my driver and my putter. They have held me in all week and they really came through strong today. I couldn't be any happier What You Need to Consider When Choosing New Golf Shafts.

PAST MASTERS TARGET FRESH SUCCESS AT AUGUSTA

PAST MASTERS TARGET FRESH SUCCESS AT AUGUSTA

It is not just that Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson have won six of the last 10 Masters between them that makes them so look forward to April each year. The two biggest stars in American golf - you used to be able to say world golf, but how times have changed - know their careers will ultimately be judged by how many majors they win and what happens in the preceding months really does not matter. They also know that nowhere are they more likely to win than on the hallowed turf of Augusta National, a place where no European has triumphed since Jose Maria Olazabal in 1999.In 14 appearances as a professional Woods has four victories golf news headlines, two seconds and 10 top-six finishes. He has not finished lower than sixth on his last six visits and last year, despite all his rustiness and all the focus on him on his return to the sport after four months out because of the off-course problems, he came fourth.Mickelson, meanwhile, has three wins, four thirds and 12 top-seven finishes in the past 16 years."I'm as excited about this year's Masters as I always am - it's my favourite tournament of the year," said the man who will be trying to join Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Woods as the only players to make a successful defence of the title. There was real emotion to his victory last spring, with his wife and mother both battling breast cancer and the final day will mostly be remembered for two images.First, his staggering second shot out of the trees to four feet on the long 13th and then his embrace with wife Amy coming off the 18th green Is Your Golf Swing Training Aids True.
