S&S, Kim’s win benefit golf tourney


LAUREL — Dixie Electric Power Association hosted its third annual benefit golf tournament Thursday at the Laurel Country Club golf news headlines.Some 152 players representing 38 teams played in the event, which was a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.Pollyanna Magee, communication specialist for Dixie Electric, said Thursday’s goal was to raise at least $10,000 for the American Cancer Society.We raised $8,000 last year, so we’re hoping to get at least $10,000 this year,” she said. “We’re giving out first and second place prizes for both tee times as well as four hole-in-one awards.”Magee said golfers lucky enough to score a hole-in-one had the chance at a 2011 F-150 Ford truck with the Eco-Boost V-6 donated by Gray Daniels Ford; a 2011 GMC Sierra truck donated by Bob Palmer Chancellor Motor Group; a set of irons donated by Kim’s Chrysler Dodge Jeep Toyota; a meal every week for one year from Chick-Fil-A.Golfers were also treated to a Chick-Fil-A box lunch.Elkins Wholesale also provided snacks and Coca-Cola provided drinks,” Magee said. “A lot of different businesses provided door prizes, and we had 46 hole sponsors.”One of those taking part in Thursday’s golf tournament was O.E.
